Watched Grand Designs......... been waiting for weeks to see the inside of your home and was definately not disapointed, you and your wife are truely inspirational! you should be proud of yourselves and Thorne should be proud of you also. Well done!.

I'm from Moorends and remember going to Merlins nightclub as a teenager. Dad recalls going to the picture house. The programme caught me by surprise (I heard 'Thorne' whilst walking past the TV). So glad I watched the programme - truly lovely people (not always the case on GD) and a really beautiful house. Thorne's lucky to have you - well done!

Gobsmacked at the wonderful transformation! I too was brought up in Thorne but left aged 18 to go to Uni and never went back to live, tho made many visits to stay with family. Parts of the town are pretty, especially the canal , boats, locksand pedestrianised shopping area ( neither shown on the programme unfortunately) but there are lots of delapidated buildings too. How inspirational to see a lovely couple use their money, time and love in turning a wreck into a stunning home- which hopefully will lead to a resurgence in the area. Brilliant.

I wanted to tell you that I found your blog (can't remember how I stumbled across it) and then made a point of watching GD. I think you've done an amazing job. You are both very brave, took a risk and it paid off down to your perseverance, I don't think I'd have the nerve! You both came across as genuinely lovely people, down to earth, lovely people which you don't often see in these types of programmes. Not that it matters a jot what I think of you, but it was very refreshing & enjoyable to watch. I love how you were keen to find out about the history of the property and made a nod to its former years by keeping the projector room windows and I also felt your anguish at ripping out the entrance hall floor, a tough decision which some may criticise but at the end of the day its now a home and has to be liveable (and warm). You've built an amazing home for your family and I wish you many happy years in it.

I have only just seen this episode of grand designs. Like a whole year late!!! Totally blown away. I work for a structural engineering company and my true love is RC concrete. Amazing to watch it actually being used and even better to not be covered up. Your house is amazing. Just so very beautiful :)
