Chapter 4: Taking it apart · 22 December 2011
Stripped back
So, I did my first few honest days work on site over the last few weeks, which is why I’ve not posted anything up here! I took a couple of weeks off work to get stuck in. This was by no way a commercial consideration! The logical decision would be for me to work, earn money and pay someone to do the work I could do, but I feel so much better for doing it myself. I know every part of the building.
Basically, we removed the non original wall where the front door and window was, all the stuff on the facia (like the merlins tetley boards which we’ve saved, and the merlins neon signage which we’ve not…) all the doors and windows, all the drain pipes, and everything else, like wiring, lights etc. AND all the plants / trees / moss whatever that was trying to reclaim the building back to the earth.
I’m pretty proud to have done a lot of it on my own, especially in the first day, when I got the non original wall out with nothing but a lump hammer. haha!
All this work was to prepare the building for blast cleaning.
