The Garden Wall
So, we’ve constructed the East garden wall. We wanted to build it entirely out of reclaimed bricks, but after the demolition, we didn’t have enough, so Kate came up with a cunning plan.
We are using the reclaimed bricks for the inner skin (i.e. what we can see in the garden) to continue and match in with the existing wall. Then ‘commons’ (cheap bricks) in the middle where no-one can see them, then an expensive ‘old looking’ but new engineering brick on the outside. We’ve also added lime to the mortar to lighten it, again to match.
We think it looks great!
